There are two main types of projector screen surfaces:
A projector is a tool that projects images, usually onto a screen or surface. They work by casting light through the lens of an optically focused lamp in order to create the images on the screen.

The beam is broken up into individually addressable spots on the image plane. Each spot can be made brighter or dimmer, and shaded from completely black to completely white.

Projectors used with computer systems are called displays and may include one of more types of projection technologies: DLP, LCD, LCoS and Laser Projection technology.

Today, projectors are used for both home entertainment and business. They are available in several different sizes. The most common projector screen sizes are:

Projectors come in many different types, from regular to ultra-short throw (UST) and large-venue projection systems.
1. Fixed Screens - A fixed screen is a physical surface onto which an image is projected. It is usually constructed from a white material that is lightweight and relatively thin, coated

with a diffusion material that scatters the otherwise direct light from the projector so it appears to be coming from a greater distance than the actual source ofthe projector light.

The screen is usually hung using a Bar / C Clamp which consists of two metal arms that clamp the screen to the surface it is mounted on.

2. Portable Screen - A portable screen is usually a projection screen material that is treated with a special coating, allowing it to be folded or rolled without causing creases or ruining the surface. Most portable screens are designed to use with a specific model of projector, one that has an appropriate light output and throw distance for the intended application.

These are especially handy for people who wish to take their projector with them for presentations off-site, or for those who wish to install it on family vacations and wish to be able to move the projector from room-to-room as needed.

Projector screens are usually measured in the following way: the "in diagonal" measurement allows the screen to be placed at any height and still measure up to exactly that size.

The "in radius" measurement is normally stated in inches, but may be given in centimeters or feet. This is mostly used for portable screens which are intended to be used with a specific projector, rather than different throw-distances

which makes projectors designed for these screen types not useful with each other. For fixed screens, however, it can still be a useful measurement, allowing distances between two screens of different sizes to be determined and then arranged so viewers can see them from all angles without any overlap.

Projectors are usually installed in the following manner: if the projector needs to be placed on a shelf, it is first set down at the correct height. The screen can then be hung using a level on the wall to make sure it is straight. The screen and projector are aligned so that the center of the screen faces in the same direction as where it is expected people will be viewing from.

In some cases, projectors may need to be installed on a ceiling. This is usually done by setting up two concrete walls adjacent to one another, with an outlet and power switch near one end of each wall. A hole is drilled in each wall so that a bolt can pass through both walls.
